Americans Don't Want to be Ruled by a King Again

Americans should reread the Declaration of Independence to better understand our equal rights and our voting as essential to government. But this year, read about the "establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states" by the King of England.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled, according to Justice Sonia Sotomayor: "The relationship between the president and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law."

Do Americans have to learn to live under a king again?

President Joe Biden dissents, respects limits of presidential powers and recognizes the grave danger to our democracy. His opponent has threatened many formerly illegal activities that, if elected, could be legal.

We must all stand against a presidential candidate who believes he is above the law. Americans must vote Democratic from the top to the bottom of the ticket on Nov. 5 to save democracy.

With a president and a Congress that does not believe the president is king of America, we can rein in this radical Supreme Court majority that rules antithetical to the Declaration of Independence, to our Constitution, to the writings of our Founders and to legal precedent.
