What Say You?
Sauk County Board Poised to Make Reckless Decision On Tuesday, September 10, 6 pm, West Square Building in Baraboo, the Sauk County Board will hold its final vote regarding the sale of our Sauk County Health Care Center (nursing home). Sixteen of the Board's 31 Supervisors recklessly believe that selling our 5-star facility to a for-profit, 1-2-star company (Aria) for a mere $5.5 million dollars (worth at least $16 million) is a good idea, without a single public hearing or public referendum to find out what county taxpayers think! Furthermore, our beautiful facility, built in 2009, which will be paid off in a mere 3 years, could actually make money for the county given that federal Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements are at a record high since 2023 (and will continue to be)! What is equally alarming is that when rightfully concerned citizens try to contact the County Board members who want to sell our nursing home, they respond with harsh, highly unprofessional comments (namely, Supervisors in Districts 8, 12, 22, 25, 28, and 29), or they don't respond to our phone calls or emails at all (namely, Supervisors in Districts 5 and 20)! We elected them to represent us but they treat us with disdain, or they ignore us! We need to vote these Supervisors out in April, 2026! In the meantime, join us, "Citizens for Sauk County Health Care Center", on Facebook, and/or contact me. Our group has gathered over 1200 petition signatures from across the county, of those opposed to selling our county nursing home. Additionally, plan to attend the County Board Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 6 pm, Baraboo, and speak against the sale. We need to do everything we can to keep our cherished county nursing home, in operation since 1871, for current and future residents and staff!
